Ingredient Review

Our review of Solid Gold Holistique Blendz with Oatmeal begins with a detailed look at the food’s ingredients.

The first ingredient is Oatmeal. Oatmeal is made with oats that have had their tough outer hulls removed before further processing into a coarse high-fiber substance. The oatmeal in pet food is a source of carbohydrates, protein, vitamins, minerals to support your companion’s overall well-being.

The second ingredient is Pearled Barley. Pearled Barley is the cereal grain barley with its outer hull removed. In pet food, pearled barley serves as a source of carbohydrates. It is lower in nutrients than whole barley or barley groats.

The third ingredient is Peas. Pea is a general term to describe whole, split, or milled peas, which are a grain-free, gluten-free source of protein, fiber, and carbohydrates. In pet food, pea products serve as an energy source as well as a supplementary source of vitamins and minerals.

The fourth ingredient is Ocean Fish Meal. Ocean fish meal is cooked, ground meal made from fish meat and other edible parts of an ocean fish of any species. The ocean fish meal in pet food is usually included as a source of protein although it may offer other nutrients as well.

The fifth ingredient is Dried Eggs. Natural liver flavor is dried liver that has been pulverized into a fine powder and applied via a spraying process. In pet food, natural liver flavor can increase palatability. It’s often used to coat kibbles.

When we analyzed the ingredients in Solid Gold Holistique Blendz with Oatmeal, we found that most of the protein is derived from fish based sources.

Nutritional Analysis

Your adult dog needs a balance of macro and micronutrients to thrive. A food formulated for adult maintenance or all life stages is made to meet these needs. While there can be a lot of variation in actual calorie density, adult dog foods are generally intended to provide for basic calorie needs of the average active dog. In addition to satisfying their energy needs, these foods provide the protein, fat, carbohydrates, fiber, and other nutrients your adult dog needs to survive. Again, not all adult foods are the same, so you may have to search around for the right fit for your dog.
