Ingredient Review
Our review of PetKind Tripett Original Formula Green Beef Tripe Grain-Free Canned Dog Food begins with a detailed look at the food’s ingredients.
The first ingredient is Green Beef Tripe. Green beef tripe is unprocessed lining from a cow’s stomach. While you can find scalded, bleached beef tripe in supermarkets, green tripe isn’t meant for human consumption. In pet food, green beef tripe can serve as a source of protein, vitamins, and minerals including vitamin B12, zinc, selenium, phosphorus, calcium, and magnesium.
The second ingredient is Water. Water is added to pet food as a blending agent, or as a thinning agent. It is typically found in wet or moist foods rather than in dry kibble.
The third ingredient is Guar Gum. Guar gum is a thickening agent that is derived from the guar bean. In pet food, guar gum helps food keep its shape and it doubles as a source of fiber. Since guar gum can slow digestion, it’s sometimes found in foods designed to help your pet lose weight.
When we analyzed the ingredients in PetKind Tripett Original Formula Green Beef Tripe Grain-Free Canned Dog Food, we found that most of the protein is derived from meat based sources.

Nutritional Analysis
Your adult dog needs a balance of macro and micronutrients to thrive. A food formulated for adult maintenance or all life stages is made to meet these needs. While there can be a lot of variation in actual calorie density, adult dog foods are generally intended to provide for basic calorie needs of the average active dog. In addition to satisfying their energy needs, these foods provide the protein, fat, carbohydrates, fiber, and other nutrients your adult dog needs to survive. Again, not all adult foods are the same, so you may have to search around for the right fit for your dog.
