Ingredient Review
Our review of Purina Pro Plan Veterinary Diets OM Metabolic Response Plus Joint Mobility Dry Dog Food begins with a detailed look at the food’s ingredients.
The first ingredient is Wheat Gluten. Wheat gluten is a good source of digestible protein. In pet food, wheat gluten is used as a binding agent and texturizer as well as a protein source.
The second ingredient is Soy Protein Concentrate. Soy protein concentrate is made with pulverized soybeans that have been defatted, and that have had all water-soluble components removed. In pet food, soy protein concentrate can be a good source of plant-based protein; it can also offer some fiber and carbohydrates.
The third ingredient is Poultry By-Product Meal. Sometimes abbreviated as PBM, poultry by-product meal is cooked, finely ground protein made with clean, rendered parts of chicken, turkey, and other poultry carcasses. The poultry by-product meal in pet food can contain bones, internal organs, and undeveloped eggs; it is considered to be of low quality and is less digestible than chicken meat.
The fourth ingredient is Soybean Germ Meal. Soybean germ meal is a ground, textured food ingredient made from the nutrient-dense germ portion of the soybean. In pet food, soybean germ meal can be a source of protein, fat, carbohydrates, and other nutrients
The fifth ingredient is Fish Meal. Fish meal is cooked, ground meal made from fish meat and other edible parts of a fish of any species. The fish meal in pet food is usually included as a source of protein although it may offer other nutrients as well.
When we analyzed the ingredients in Purina Pro Plan Veterinary Diets OM Metabolic Response Plus Joint Mobility Dry Dog Food, we found that most of the protein is derived from plant based sources.

Nutritional Analysis
Your adult dog needs a balance of macro and micronutrients to thrive. A food formulated for adult maintenance or all life stages is made to meet these needs. While there can be a lot of variation in actual calorie density, adult dog foods are generally intended to provide for basic calorie needs of the average active dog. In addition to satisfying their energy needs, these foods provide the protein, fat, carbohydrates, fiber, and other nutrients your adult dog needs to survive. Again, not all adult foods are the same, so you may have to search around for the right fit for your dog.
